Virtual company in number sequence scopes [AX2012 R2]

Hello,

I've looked at the msdn on the number sequence framework setup (msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh242127.aspx) and there is a note saying:

"Number sequences can be set up for virtual companies only if you are using Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2"

But there is no doc explaining how to use virtual companies with number sequences. does it involve some customizations in the code?
