[AX2012] AXUtil tool returns "ERROR: [MS] Dynamics AX 6.0 not found in the registry"

Hello,

I'm running into the following behavior:

C:\>axutil list

AXUtil 6.0 - Microsoft Dynamics AX Admin Utility (6.0.947.0)

(c) Copyright, Microsoft Corporation, 2011. All rights reserved.

The AXUtil command was started in the mode: list.

ERROR: Microsoft Dynamics AX 6.0 not found in the registry. Please specify the /db switch.

I read somewhere that you have to run the AX Configuration tool. I'm not sure what "run" is supposed to mean in that context, but I opened it, made some new configurations, hit apply, reverted to the "Original" ones, hit apply, and closed it. The issue persists.

Any ideas?

P.S. I'm running this tool on a client. Should I be running it on the server?

Ah hah! So it works on the server. Is this a server-side tool? Any chance of running this tool remotely?
