I am in finance and my company is considering a Dynamics AX 2012 implementation to function as our g/l, a/p, consolidation, and financial reporting tool. I am on the forum to obtain some feedback from users of AX 2012 from the accounting/finance role to understand their experience with AX 2012.
My company is a holding company for a multiple entity structure that has some intercompany activities between many of its legal entities. I'm searching for a solution that can effectively consolidate the results as needed without being a large, complex tool (such as Hyperion). Does anyone have experience consolidating multiple entities in AX 2012 and would be able to provide feedback on that experience. The consultant that I met with last month believes it will meet our needs and the demo looked positive, but it's always good to hear 'real world experiences' to confirm our initial thoughts.
One further complication is that our org structure is decentralized from a systems standpoint. We have legal entities that use a variety of general ledger systems and they will not follow us onto Dynamics AX. Our current consolidation/financial reporting tool is an old version of Hyperion Enterprise. Our legal entities load/submit a file each month with the results into Hyperion. As we'll want to use AX 2012 for our consolidation and financial reporting, we'll want our legal entities to be able to continue to submit files into AX 2012 and consolidate these results in the tool. We do not receive transaction level information from our entities, but instead receive higher level information currently in Hyperion and expect that to continue in AX 2012. Does anyone have experience with one of their entities doing their g/l work outside of AX 2012 and submitting periodic results into AX 2012? I've been told that they can do this, but again it would be good to hear from real world folks that have successfully implemented this in practice.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts. We are not a complex enough organization to support a large, bulky SAP/Oracle type system and this seems to be a good fit, but I do want to get comfortable with the ideas described above.
