I have set up a Purchase Order workflow using Position Hierarchy and signing limits whereby if a signing limit is rule is not met i.e. Position can not approve over $1000 then the approval needs to go to the next person in the hierarchy.
This works fine but when the signing limit is above $50,000 and the Purchase Order is under the $50k the workflow should allow the PO to be automatically approved but I get a stop error on the workflow - "The hierarchy provider did not return any users"
The issue seems to be around allowing the workflow to continue on if the step of passing the approval to the next hierarchy is not required.
Wondering if anyone has seen this issue or may no the area i'm not setting up correctly.

Assignment Type - Hierarchy
Hierarchy selection - Workflow Originator -
Condition - Where Employee.Signing Limits >= Field - Purchase Orders.Balance
Hierarchy Options - Assign to last user retrieved
