We are evaluating a new AX 2012 implementation (for at least 100 concurrent users).
One of our local partners rolled out a first draft of the test environment and production environment (we're running VMWare vSphere) and we were bewildered to learn that we need:
- one server for each AX role (test & environment)
- a huge amount of RAM for each role (test & environment)
- 8GB of RAM should be enough for the test AOS, 16GB is better for the production AOS
- 12GB of RAM should be enough for the test SQL DB, 16 or 24GB is better for the production DB
- the Enterprise Portal, the Terminal Server, the Help Server should run fine with 4-6 GB of RAM
What?!?!? Do we need such monstrous hardware requirements for such a small implementation? What if we grow up to 150-200 users??
Is there any best practice or real-world examples?
Thank you!
