I'm in a AX2012 R1 environment. I have a spreadsheet of Items that I need to create. Once created, I need to replace a hand full of existing items with the newly created items.
When I say replace, I mean I need to rename the existing items with the new items. This needs to take place everywhere, Production, Purchasing, Sales, Planned Orders, Coverage, Boms, Routes, Inventory, Invent Trans, etc...
So really it's a two part problem. 1.) Create new items. 2.) Replace/Rename existing items with new items created in part 1.
Now my questions:
First, on creating the items, what have everyone been using in 2012, is there a utility or service I should leverage? In 2009 I would have done it manually because of the simple table structure but with the blown out normalized tables of 2012 I don't think that's wise.
Second, can the Replace/Rename tool take care of everything or will I need to write code to handle routes and boms and anything the Replace/Rename tool misses? Has anyone done this, have any suggestions?
