When using Lean Manufacturing in AX 2012 you link a Production Flow to Kanban Rule, which in turn is linked to Items.
Where you wish to separate the variance reporting of different item manufacturing you will need to assign different Production Flows and therefore Kanban Rules to each item.
Now when one component (ItemA) has in its BOM another manufactured component (ItemB) and they both use separate Production Flows - then we will need to ensure that Item B is produced prior to Item A.
To do this we need to link the 2 Production Flows so that the Production Flow linked to Item A knows that the Production Flow linked to Item B will feed it:
- On the Production Flow linked to Item B, tick the 'Downstream Flow' tick box on the Last Activity
- On the Production Flow linked to Item A on its first Activity set a 'Predecessor' and use the Feeder Tab of the drop-down to select the activity from Production Flow B
Note: The Activity from Production Flow linked to Item B will only appear in the feeder list of the Production Flow linked to Item A if the 'Downstream Flow' tick box has already been selected on the last activity of Production Flow linked to Item B.
