AX 2012 Requiring financial dimension

In AX 2012 I've been able to successfully use the DimensionDefaultingController to add financial dimensions to a customer creation form.  The next step is to make some of the dimension attributes required (i.e., the user must select a value before they can close the form).  Does anyone have any hints or help they can provide on how this can be done?
