How do I populate PickingAreaID in the WMSPickingRoute table?

AX2012 CU3

We have defined inventory locations and associated them to Store Areas.  We desire to utilize the Store Areas as part of some external steps in our process.  (Steps outside of AX.)  We expected to see the Store Areas populated to the PickingAreaID field in the WMSPickingRoute table, but were suprised to find nothing.

What populates the PickingAreaID field in this table?
