What is the equivalent method in Ax 2009 of Ax 2012 getfieldvalue()

Hi,

 For integration of Ax 2009 with external applications, i need a comon method to get the value of field by passing fieldname as parameter in ax 2009. In Ax 2012 a method is available called "Getfieldvalue"  which have fieldname as parameter. pls help me...
